The all nighters thing isn't really going to hurt me seeing that I don't sleep much anyway, and most of those all nighters will be focused on a few projects. Mainly two oil paintings.

Here's a list of my current workload.
- Portrait of Classmate in oil: this is the only assignment I had for this class. I'm up to date so far with this. Of course I'll post a picture when it's finished.
-Pulp Magazine Cover: We were supposed to do a cover for "The Shadow" however we can do whatever we wanted, so I chose The Venture Brothers. This is being painting in oil, and isn't looking very good at the moment. Hopefully I can still save it.
-Brochure in Vector: we were supposed to have a theme, but I half assed mine by saying the theme is my art in general. It's looking pretty good so far.
-Completed Book Illustrations: I have to complete 6 images, I'm going to do this in vector.
-Personal Project: My professor said we can do whatever we want. I'll be puking a rainbow filled with all the stuff I like. I'll be doing this in oil
-Movie poster: Make a poster for a movie. I don't have much info on this one yet...

I have my work cut out for me, and I didn't even mention the projects that aren't final, but still not finished.
Sorry, no images today.

Sleepless Pinup

I type this at 3:30 in the morning. Most of them are for class, but one was done for the hell of it.

Technically this isn't vector. My favorite food is the kind that I don't have pay for. Thanksgiving is the holiday where we all eat, and watch as the holiday is annexed by X-mas. That always seemed unfair. All of the kids like X-mas enough without having to invaded another holiday's territory.

I tend to spend thanksgiving with my family, though I'm not a big fan of family togetherness.
This applies to my relatives, not my siblings or parental units. At gatherings I'm forced to interact, Something that I lack talent in. I've noticed that most conversation with relatives is the same old thing. You or the relative will ask an empty question like "How's it Going?" and the response to the question is really nothing but lip service. I cant really complain about that too much, because I'm not very interested in their affairs as they are in mine. My Dad's side of the family is catholic, and I don't like religions in general. That makes the whole saying grace thing kinda awkward, Luckily I don't have to lead the prayer, and every bodies eyes are closed so they don't see me sitting idly. Fun thing about Religious relatives is their reactions to any piece of art i make that looks "evil".
If they think this is bad, just wait till I do a Painting of black Jesus...

The day after thanksgiving was less awkward. I met in the city with some friends, and wandered aimlessly looking for adventure. Sadly not much adventure was found. I did however find a hat. My history with hats hasn't been a very nice one. I've never found a hat that looked good on me until I found this one. I'm very happy with it.

Midterm season is almost over. I'm doing pretty good in that area too, so much that I was able to wander the streets on Halloween with no fear getting a project done late. Unfortunately Halloween sucked this year, it just didn't feel right. I fear this might be that whole growing up thing my parents were warning me about. I tried to avoid the parade, but somehow I got sucked into the crowd. I have been in tamer mosh pits than this crowd.

I went home this weekend... I should explain this. I spent most of my time off campus at my mothers house, since its closer, and the town is safer. Though I try to get to my Dad's ever so often to show that I'm still alive. I'm starting to wonder if I should even bother with it now.
I go there only to feel insulted. I'm sure we have all experienced this before.
You go home, and it seems that no matter what you do, it isn't enough and the heads of the household make you feel like a failure. Funny thing is, I don't think either of them graduated from college... so at once I get my diploma I can rub it in their faces. It sounds spiteful I know. Thats because it is.

In addition to stressing me out, this house gives me the office job vibe. Where my father and step mother act like two bosses. So they'll tell me the exact same thing, usually within a few minutes of each other. I'm waiting for one of them to ask me if I got that memo. Or give me a promotion, and by promotion I mean give me my own set of keys...

Midterm Rush.

About three weeks by my count, and no updates... This is beacoming a repeat of my livejournal account... Of course the only way to solve this little problem is to begin posting.

Class is stressful, but only in the sense that I'm getting a bit overwhelmed by my work. actually doing the work isn't bad at all. It's probably one of the only things I do, that I feel good while doing it.
When I draw, the world sucks a little less. Thats how I feel about it.

I only have two non art classes, intro to computer graphics, and history of modern art.
I missed the intro to computer graphics midterm, hopefully my professor will let me make it up.
It such a painfully easy class. Looney tunes is, or perhaps I should say was an independent cd store in West Babylon.
It was a landmark having a lot of history, a wide selection of cd's, and frequently visited by celebrities. I remember meeting Ozzy there when I was 15.

When the store burnt down, the owners boarded what was left up, and spray painted a message.

This message caused the former customers to add some messages or there own. "The Revolution Will Be Illustrated." This first post will be used to explain a few things.

The first thing I would like to explain is that I am by no means a revolutionary, and I don't plan on being one. I do feel that illustration is something powerful enough to cause revolution, it's art and art can influence an entire world, and become a part of it's culture. It is culture.

That said, allow me to Introduce myself. My name is Dylan Erb. As I type this I'm 20 years old, and I'm an illustration student at FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology). This blog will be used to document my art as I learn, and hopefully my skill in the craft increases. I'll be posting works in progress, sketches, finished products, and other experiments of mine.

In addition to my art, I'll be including anything that strikes me, something that can show the power of an image. If I think i should then i will share it here.

Welcome to myblog, I hope you enjoy what I'll have to show...
